Devious Journal Entry

I have decided not to contribute any funds to PETA. Contributing to local, voluntary organizations that are badly in need of funds feels closer to my heart.

Concerns about PETA

Sun Oct 14, 2012, 10:58 PM by CliveBarker:iconclivebarker:

Clive here. I just want everybody to know that the whole PETA issue is extremely troubling to me and there is no question of me rubber-stamping the issue without  me talking to people on every side of the argument and then making up my own mind.I became involved with this project out of my love for animals.I will not put funds into the hands of those who are not the life-loving souls they claim to be.Until I am certain that I am dealing with those on the side of the angels, I am walking with a cautious stride, and ready to take on anyone who hurts the innocent,as I'm sure would all of you.Thank you  for your concern for those who suffer simply because they were  born into a careless world.

Odyssey II

Fri Oct 12, 2012, 12:24 PM by CliveBarker:iconclivebarker:

Hey Everyone this is Alex,

On Monday Odyssey II begins!

We're looking for writers, poets, artists, filmmakers, imaginers and Barker fans to help bring this story to life.  Be creative, be adventurous, be fantastical, be fearless!

As we all know, Clive  has no limits in his creativity - films, books, art, photography.  Be inspired by the unfiltered imagination of his work, which have no bounds.   Have fun with this, and  can't wait to see what you come up with.

Hello everyone Clive here. It's the middle of the night on Friday and Alex and I have just put up 35 new painting images here on DeviantART. I am too tired to get the titles up before needing to sleep, so I will work with Alex tomorrow and we will have them up for you by the evening of Friday the 10th of August. Alex and I spent a long time choosing a rich collection of images-filled with color, and textures-for this, our fifth posting in our gallery. We hope you have fun with this new selection of paintings and look forward very much to hearing from you in the days to come. Being here on DeviantART has been a wonderful revelation. Your insights have been wise and loving, and there is never negativity, souring your comments. I feel happy to be here. It feels like home. Good night eveyrone, from both Alex and myself. We'll talk to you tomorrow.

Hi Everyone,
I'm announcing that I've invited friends and colleagues to post in my journal, to share information and insight with the Deviant Art community.

First Post - a request from Angela, who handles my art:

Hello Deviants!
A question for all of you:  If you had a choice would you like to see and play an app or mobile game from one of Clive's classic books, such as Imajica or from an entirely new mythology?  Many thanks for sharing your opinions.

Best, Angela

I have a question for all horror aficionados that like zombies. What in your opinion is the best zombie makeup you've seen and why? I'm not looking to judge an overall effect, I'd like to hear about a single character... Thanks for sharing!

I passionately believe in painting. It records both the subject and the artist. Looking at a painting is a dialogue in colour.  For the first two decades of my working life I actively fought my desire to make oil painting because it seemed such an elitist's game. I wanted above all to reach a large audience with my work and a painting can only be owned by one person. My heart fiercely resisted that idea. Yes,reproductions are better than ever, but nothing compares with standing in front of the real thing. And a man in my position can hardly comfort himself by saying that one day my paintings would be in a museum. So,I remain conflicted. Oil painting is a bliss I follow, but every time a painting is sold it has gone from the view of all but the buyer.  There are no simple answers I realize. But I respect immensely, and have learned a great deal from, listening to you all.

I seek your opinion my friends, concerning the politics of art.
