This piece is so chilling, not in any let-me-kiss-your-ass kind of way but in a very real way. A way that calls to mind terrors so pure, so coded in the ethereal of the world that only terrors from childhood are called to memory in the intense fear I got on first sight of this piece. Only memories of nightmares from my childhood, before I'd been so dulled by the reassuring monotonous certainty of ongoing daily life as an adult, only they had any essence so terrifying, so without feet in this world, that's all that I could associate with at the moment of first-sight. Even now. Truly terrifying piece but also very beautiful in its purity and simplicity. One terrible being. I also feel the execution here is a departure from the rest of the work here. Is it the culmination of some of the other work? The evolution?

I like how on its left cheek it is not clear where the hair ends and bone begins and on its right cheek how the smear gives a sense of supernatural shifting or movement. There is a sadness in eyes too, while the stretched mouth says to me, " I know you and I will consume you."
